On Friday, October 11th Meagan Masingill and I premiered our first episode of Friday In Love, our new live show after the departure of our Vapour Trail Co-host Greg Peters. Greg had two requests for one of his favorite bands and was listening to the show, along with our faithful listeners from Australia to California to Tennessee to Florida and New York.

We had to premiere our show with The Cure, as their new album Songs Of A Lost World is out November 1st and we played both the current singles Alone and A Fragile Thing. We played B-Sides, covers, remixes and live versions along with some choice album cuts, took requests from Mindy Scurto, Craig Tigwell, Mark Cross and Meagan's mom. Look for the premiere of Friday I'm In Love on Podbean where you can download it, listen on your phone or computer.

Coming up on October 28th we have Shane Speed of the band Sea Of Days with his new show Seasons Change. Shane will be playing songs that reference each month and giving background on the seasons and celebrations, along with playing new releases. You can purchase Sea Of Days here: seaofdays.bandcamp.com/album/

The days are getting shorter and cooler in the Northern Hemisphere. As I write this at 10:30am the weather is cool and overcast with a breeze ruffling the leaves on the tree outside my window. I'll still wear my shorts and short-sleeved shirts as long as I can though. But the coolness is a nice respite from the oppressive heat of the summer months.

Keep eardrumbuzz.net on your desktop shortcuts and let us be your year-round soundtrack to all the seasons and moods. Check the schedule below the player on the main page of the website and follow us at facebook.com/eardrumbuzzradio and facebook.com/eardrumbuzzradio

We've been experiencing a heatwave here in Southern California for the past week, with temperatures at or above 100 degrees. I miss the lockdown days when the skies were clear, the air was cool and clean and the light and noise pollution was practically gone. No offices spewing radiation and heat out into the air, no car exhaust and noise, no building lights on. I could go outside at night and just breathe and not hear car traffic sounds from the 134 freeway, the stars were bright in the sky and the summer temperatures were in the 80's at most.

But we put up with the extreme heat for a few weeks and an overall hot summer season. We can always go to the beach or a cool theater or stay inside. I just work and go to the theater or the bookstore, all cool enough. I've seen some good movies lately. Strange Darling was a nice throwback to scary movies from the 70's or early 80's with it's bloody, violent cat cat and mouse story played out in non-sequential chapters. The movie was filmed by actor Giovanni Rabisi in 35mm film stock and it all looks natural and realistic, while we follow the action of man versus woman, where you're not sure until half-way through who is hunting whom and who the "bad guy" truly is. The new The Crow movie had it's moments but was completely unnecessary. The sequel to Beetlejuice was a sloppy yet fun time and it was great to see Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara again and Jenna Ortega was a great addition. Not all the storylines were needed and all the endings were tied up too quickly, but I smiled throughout.

Greg Peters and DJ Wednesday are moving on, whether because of limited time or to focus on shows on other stations. I will cherish our times together and all the great music they have both added to the station's library and for their passion and knowledge of music from the past 50 years. Greg and DJ Wednesday have helped shape Eardrum Buzz Radio into what it is today with their involvement from almost the beginning, over four years ago. I'll miss Greg's Australian accent and hearing all the bands from his home that he's turned me onto and being a cohost with him on our twice-monthly Vapour Trail Live shows.  I'll miss DJ Wednesday's love of The Cocteau Twins, Siouxsie and so many more artists as well as her New Wave sets.

But I'm working with Mindy Scurto on a regular show, as well as Shane Speed, from the UK, Dave Eastman, who used to cohost Shots From Across the Pond is back on the fourth Mondays at 11am and 8pm Pacific and I hope to find more talented people who love music to become part of the Eardrum Buzz Radio Family.

So stay cool out there and keep listening to Eardrum Buzz Radio. Check out our Store, website and schedule as we add more shows and clothes. I've got stickers now!
