EDBZ BLOG #47

I’d like to welcome our newest DJ, Widgett Walls. He looks like a mad scientist in this picture and has a name like a goofy comic character, he runs a website needcoffee.com where you can read his thoughts on movies, music and more. He sings in a band and he has at least two music shows, including Completely Unsupervised on Eardrum Buzz Radio, new on the first and third Wednesday of the month at 9am & 8pm Pacific time, with replays the following week.
Widgett was referred by Rob Levy, host of The Comforts of Madness so I gave Widgett’s shows on Mixcloud a listen and enjoyed the whiplash eclecticism presented on those two hour shows. I gave him a few ideas of what I’d like to hear more of for his show on my station and time and promotional effort will tell if Completely Unsupervised catches on with listeners. His first show had Primus covering Dio, and I love Dio and enjoyed seeing and hearing Primus decades ago, a cover of David Bowie by The Airport 77s, a band I’d not heard of before, part of a collection of covers and I’m planning on doing a Bowie show next Friday, as well as The Damned covering Pink Floyd’s See Emily Play. I’m a fan of both bands there. So he got the memo on doing those fun connections, at least.

Our friend Tony Burnett, who designed most of the Eardrum Buzz Radio logos, played with one of bands Chancery Lane the other night and here’s a picture of him performing while wearing a long-sleeved shirt with his favorite logo. Tony is also in Visitors, Tender Fall and Mala Lama.
If you’d like your own shirt please click on the Store button on the website. The store needs some updating but if you see something you like but not in a color or size you want, please contact me and I’ll see what I can do.
Eardrum Buzz Radio has been around for over six years now. I’m not sure that many people know about it, but we’re here, we’re weird, so get used to it. In this crazy, beautiful world we live in, there are so many entertainment options, so many distractions, so much toxicity and silliness to seek our attention. I love to learn about history, cultures, aliens and the paranormal. I’m not a fan of religions because they usually miss the point, but I try to be a good person and keep things light when I’m interacting with others. But wanting to just relax and enjoy music or a conversation or read a comic or see a movie is my main goal in life.
I seem to have people come to me to be DJ’s from all over the world, who might just also be introverts, with a little or a lot of autism to them, good people who are just trying to navigate their worlds with grace and dignity and a whole lot of music. I’m learning to be patient, kind and to build trust with them so that we can continue to grow and build their shows and the station. The Eardrum Buzz Radio DJ’s are passionate about their shows and enjoy sharing the music they love. As do I, with my live show Friday I’m In Love.
So, if you’re reading this, I’m guessing you too are a music fan, possibly a musician, but definitely are willing to take a few minutes or hours of your week to tune in to Eardrum Buzz Radio. I would ask you to not keep the station a secret. There are plenty of other people out there in the world who might be interested in tuning in as well. So please consider sharing your love for music and Eardrum Buzz Radio with others, on your socials, in your conversations, on Twitch, wherever you are and let’s get some more attention to our little station. We have archived shows on Podbean, we’re on Patreon, we have links on many online radio directories and we’re on Bluesky, Threads, Instagram and Facebook.
